The Bone Locker
This is an old metal cabinet I bought for 2 dollars at a yard sale. I needed a place to keep my bone collection that I use in my assemblages. I have two dogs that are always eying my collection! I spray painted over found objects to give the cabinet the 3-D look. I think it turned out pretty cool!!

Among the Branches

This is another assemblage in my Fairytale series. Often find my art is influenced by the fairy tales that I heard in my childhood. I am making a series of assemblage created from my own fairytales that are told with my artwork. This fairytale assemblage is “The girl who lived with birds”.
There are mosses, roots, twigs, lichen in this piece that I have collected. The tree that the girl in the nest lives in is actually a dried cabbage root! I love to collect and dry roots and stalks from my garden. They are often very sculptural and durable.
The photograph used in the nest of a long forgotten little girl. I think she is glad to be out of the box and back in the world. She clutches a little purse and a handful of posies and is wearing a little pearl necklace. I added text from odd words to create a little poem that I added to the work it reads: among the branches of the tree, memory of voices recede.

The Kafka Tree
This is an assemblage made of found items and images. I altered an image of Kafka and put it in side a tin box that is turned in to a window with the help of my metal cutting tool. With wire I secured it to a tree limb. I added strips of text from a book on the psychology of Kafka and used vintage bulbs that hang from the branches like strange fruit. On the top is a Metamorphosis beetle that I embellished with metal paints. The piece is ready to hang with a wire on the back. The size is12 inches tall and 8 inches at the widest point.

This is another from my raft series. I used pieces of nature that I find in my walks. I am very conscious of nature’s ecology so only use pieces that are in logged areas. The works include mosses, lichen, twigs, feathers and other little pieces from the woods. I mounted the bundle on a raft of alder bark and then tied around the piece with vines and string. I added a string of turquoise stone gems and a metal Buddha figure. I added the mica covered text… Seek…on the base of the tiny statue. Check out the close up detail photo too!

The works include mosses, lichen, twigs, feathers and other little pieces from the woods. I mounted the bundle on a raft of found wood and then tied around the piece with vines and raveled twine. I added a string of stone gems and a tiny white stag deer that I once found floating in the ocean. I added the text… simply on the earth…on to the bottom. The piece is easily displayed with a copper wine hanger on the back. It is 8 inches tall, 3 inches wide at the base and the branches flare out at the middle to 8 inches wide.

Oh World Egg… Hear Me
This is an assemblage I created from great old industrial stop/ start switch box with old wire curling from the top. I painted the cloth covered wire with red, black and white paint. I added weird rusted wires and coils to the work and a little doll hand reaches out of the top. I have added strange text and images from a crumbling remnant of a book that I found on the street. The side has prickly iron thorny pieces I found in a old burnt house. The work stands strongly on its heavy metal coils

The Bird Tried to Wake Him

The Bird Tried to Wake Him , originally uploaded by moonwild.

This is an assemblage mounted on a 7 inch rusted and aged metal cog. I uses plaster molded doll and a little bird and a chippy painted frame the main focal piece. A jewelry piece hangs from the bottom of the frame. I backed the doll piece with a cool holey round piece of metal. I backed that with a page from a vintage physics book so that the numbers show through I used more text from the book around the metal piece.

An Immense World of Delight

An Immense World of Delight, originally uploaded by moonwild.

This is an assemblage I created from great found metal piece with a center hole just right for a window. I backed the window with a tree image framed with pieces of broken glass. I added a hinge hanger to the back for easy display. I use a real antique Frozen Charlotte German bisque doll, a piece of glimmering seashell, a tiny bottle with a secret message. Little birds, that had escaped from a wedding cake, were wire wrapped to fly around the work I wrapped the base with gauze and added a quote by Keats The work is 5 wide by 10 inch long.

We inhabit the world of dreams and mountains.
