The Kafka Tree
This is an assemblage made of found items and images. I altered an image of Kafka and put it in side a tin box that is turned in to a window with the help of my metal cutting tool. With wire I secured it to a tree limb. I added strips of text from a book on the psychology of Kafka and used vintage bulbs that hang from the branches like strange fruit. On the top is a Metamorphosis beetle that I embellished with metal paints. The piece is ready to hang with a wire on the back. The size is12 inches tall and 8 inches at the widest point.

Seek detail
Seek
I added a string of turquoise stone gems and a tiny metal Buddha figure. I added the mica covered text… Seek…on the base of the tiny statue.

This is another from my raft series. I used pieces of nature that I find in my walks. I am very conscious of nature’s ecology so only use pieces that are in logged areas. The works include mosses, lichen, twigs, feathers and other little pieces from the woods. I mounted the bundle on a raft of alder bark and then tied around the piece with vines and string. I added a string of turquoise stone gems and a metal Buddha figure. I added the mica covered text… Seek…on the base of the tiny statue. Check out the close up detail photo too!

Simply on the earth
This is another from my raft series. I used pieces of nature that I find in my walks. I am very conscious of nature’s ecology so only use pieces that are in logged areas. The works include mosses, lichen, twigs, feathers and other little pieces from the woods. I mounted the bundle on a raft of found wood and then tied around the piece with vines and raveled twine. I added a string of stone gems and a tiny white stag deer that I once found floating in the ocean. I added the text… simply on the earth…on to the bottom. The piece is easily displayed with a copper wine hanger on the back. It is 8 inches tall, 3 inches wide at the base and the branches flare out at the middle to 8 inches wide.
